God is real and you can find Him if you search your heart.

What we Believe

At LPCC, we not only believe that God is real, we also believe that you can experience a real relationship with Him. We believe that the Word of God is true and has every answer to life that we will ever need or experience.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you.”

– Jeremiah 29: 11-14

The Bible is god’s word to all people. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the holy spirit. Because it was inspired by god, the Bible is truth without any mixture of error and is completely relevant to our daily lives.

Scriptures: 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Proverbs 30:5

God has existed in relationship with himself for all eternity. He exists as one god in three persons: the father, the son and the holy spirit. Although each member of the trinity serves different functions, they each possess equal power and authority.

Scriptures: 1 John 5:7; Genesis 1:26; Matthew 3:16-17,28:19

God is great: he is all powerful, all knowing, ever present, unchanging, completely worthy of our trust, and above all, holy. It is in him that we live, move and exist. God is good: he is our father. He is loving, compassionate, and faithful to his people and his promises

Scriptures: Isaiah 44:6; Ephesians 4:6; 1 Peter 1:16; Acts 17:27-29

Son

Jesus christ is completely human but at the same time, completely God. He is the only plan for bringing people who are far from God back into a right relationship with God. He lived a perfect life, so that he could be a substitution for us in satisfying God’s plan for redemption. He defeated death in his resurrection so that we could have eternal life.

Scriptures: John 1:1,14,20:28; Philippians 2:5-6; 1 Timothy 2:5

His presence assures us of our relationship with christ. He guides believers into all truth and exalts christ. He convicts people of their sin, God’s righteousness, and the coming judgment. He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and makes us more like christ. Evidence of the holy spirit is seen in the fruits of the holy spirit, speaking in unknown tongues, gifts of the holy spirit, etc.

Scriptures: Hebrews 2:4; Romans 1:11, 12:4-8; Ephesians 4:16; 1 Timothy 4:14; 2 Timothy 1:6-7; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31, 14:1-40; 1 Peter 4:10

We believe that Jesus who was fully God was born of the virgin Mary to take on flesh and become fully man so that he could be the perfect sacrifice to die on the cross for humanities sins.

Scriptures: Matthew 1:18, 25; Luke 1:35; Isaiah 7:14; Luke 1:27-35

The church is a local community of believers unified through faith in christ. The church is obedient to the teachings of christ and committed to spreading the gospel to all the world. The church works together in love and unity, intent on fulfilling the ultimate purpose of glorifying christ.

Scriptures: 1 Cor 12:12-14; 1 cor 12:18-20; Mark 16:15-16;

Man

Man is made in the image of God and is the supreme object of his creation. Man was created to have fellowship with God but became separated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, man cannot attain a right relationship with God through his own effort. Every human personality is uniquely created, possesses dignity, and is worthy of respect and christian love.

Scriptures: Genesis 1:26-28; 1 john 1:3-4; John 3:16-18;

We believe that after man sinned that his only hope for redemption came through Jesus Christ who paid the price for all sin. All those who receive salvation through him are reconciled back to God through the sacrifice of his life on the cross.

Genesis 1:26-31, 3:1-7; Romans 5:12-21

Man was created good and upright, but by voluntary transgression he fell into sin. His only hope of redemption is in Jesus christ. Repentance is a commitment to turn away from sin in every area of our lives and to follow christ. Through repentance we individually receive forgiveness of sins and appropriate salvation.

Scriptures: Acts 2:21, 3:19; 1 John 1:9

The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way of salvation through the forgiveness of sin. Salvation occurs when people place their faith in the death and resurrection of christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation is a gift given through the grace of God, and it cannot be earned through our own efforts.

Scriptures: Ephesians 2:8-9; Galatians 2:16, 3:8; Titus 3:5; Romans 10:9-10

Sanctification is the will of God for all believers to live a life of holiness and righteousness. To abstain from the lust of the flesh, managing and controlling our bodies through which we give honor to God.

Scriptures: 1 Thessalonians 4:3, 5:23; 2 Corinthians 3:18, 6:14-18, 2;  Thessalonians 2:1-3,Romans 8:29, 12:1-2; Hebrews 2:11

We believe that the blood of Jesus cleanses man of all his sins and restores him to a place of right standing with God.

Scriptures: 1 John 1:7; Revelation 1:5, 5:9; Colossians 1:20; Romans 3:10-12, 23, 5:9; John 1:29

Jesus Christ came to give us salvation and all who received him to indwell in them have become the sons of God.

Scriptures: John 1:12; John 14:17, 23; John 15:4; Romans 8:11; Revelation 3:20

Prayer is our ability to communicate with God. Through Jesus’ salvation, we no longer need an intercessor to go between God and us; we can address him directly. We believe that no monumental thing can be done without prayer preceding it and continuing through it.

Scriptures: Matthews 6:6; 9-13; Romans 8:26; 1 Thess 5:7

Baptism is a symbolic act to publicly profess one’s salvation. God commands it, but our salvation is not reliant upon it. We practice full-immersion baptism, symbolizing the process of death and resurrection that Jesus went through for us.

Scriptures: Joel 2:28-29; Matthew 3:11; Mark 16:17; Acts 1:5,2:1-4, 17, 38-39, 8:14-17, 10:38, 44-47, 11:15-17, 19:1

Communion (the lord’s supper) is a unique time when the elements of bread and juice express, in a spiritual way, the body and blood of christ. Communion is taken by believers in remembrance of christ’s sacrifice on the cross.

Scriptures: Matthews 26:26-28; 1 Cor 11:23-26

The five-fold ministry positions of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers are gifts given to each local church and the universal church. These gifts are for the equipping of believers to spread the gospel of christ. We believe both men and women are sovereignly chosen by God for these ministry positions.

Scriptures: Eph 4:8-12; 1 cor 12:28

Health & Prosperity

We believe that, as part of christ’s work of salvation, it is the father’s will for believers to become whole, healthy, and successful in all areas of life:

  1. Spiritual

Scriptures: 2 Peter 1:3

2. Mental & Emotional

Scriptures: Luke 4:18

3. Physical

Scriptures: Acts 10:38; 1 Peter 2:24

4. Financial

Scriptures: Luke 6:38; 2 Cor 9:6-8

The Resurrection of Jesus is the fulfillment of the scripture that the last enemy of humanity would be conquered which is death. The bodies of the believers will rise at the second coming of Christ and those who are still alive will be changed to have a body like his.

Scriptures: Luke 24:16, 36, 39; John 2:19-21, 20:26-28, 21:4; Acts 24:15; 1 Corinthians 15:42, 44; Philippians 1:21-23, 3:21

Heaven is the dwelling place of God, His angels and believers who have died before the second coming of Christ. In heaven the believer receives rest and reward for their labor and service in the earth.

Matthew 5:3, 12, 20, 6:20, 19:21, 25:34; John 17:24; 2 Corinthians 5:1; Hebrews 11:16; 1 Peter 1:4

Hell was created for the devil and his angels but all those who reject Christ and his salvation will also be sent there until the final judgment.

Scriptures: Matthew 25:41; Mark 9:43-48; Hebrews 9:27; Revelation 14:9-11, 20:12-15, 21:8

Jesus christ will physically and visibly return to earth for the second time to establish his authority on earth. This will occur at a time undisclosed by scripture. So, we live everyday in expectation of christ’s return.

Scriptures: Matthew 24:30, 26:63-64; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-8; Revelation 1:7

Man was created to exist forever. He will exist either eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with him is heaven. Heaven and hell are places of eternal existence.

Scripture: Matthew 25:31-46
